Usage Guidelines – Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with TeamSpeak VoIP System Server

Configuring and connecting to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with TeamSpeak VoIP System Server

  1. Start your VM

To start the server, run the VM through Azure Portal.

  1. For the connection to the server, you should know the IP address of the VM. You can find it in the personal account of Azure. You need to select the virtual machine from the list. By clicking the item “Overview”, your IP is displayed in the line “Public IP Address
  1. To work, you must open TCP ports 22, 10011, 10022, 30033, 10080, and UDP port 9987 in the network properties in the Azure firewall.
  1. Static Ip Address – Your virtual machine should have the static IP address if you do not want to constantly change the chat settings (because if the address is dynamic, after the rebooting of the machine it’ll change).
  1. Get credentials

To get the credentials, you should connect to the VM.

  1. With OpenSSH

In the Windows 10 operating system (starting with version 1809 ), an OpenSSH client is available, with which you can connect to Linux servers via SSH. If Windows 10 is suitable and the OpenSSH client is installed, you can start connecting via SSH. To do this, launch a normal Windows command prompt and enter the command “ssh user@*vm_ip*” (1), where “user” is the username that was specified while creating the virtual machine and “*vm_ip*” is the VM IP address.

Then type “Yes” (2) and enter a password (3) that was specified while creating the virtual machine.

  1. With the PuTTy application

To do this you need the PuTTy application to connect via ssh. You can download it at the following link – Download

Run Putty, enter the VM address in the “Host” field (1) and click “Open” (2) to connect.

In the opened console you will need to enter a username (1) and password (2) that were specified while the VM was being created (you’ll not see the password in the console while entering it).

  1. Enter the command sudo cat /home/teamspeak/creds.txt and save login (1), password (2), apikey (3), and token (4)
  1. Connect to your server
  1. An installed TeamSpeak 3 client is required to connect to the server
  1. Launch the TeamSpeak app. You can skip authorization by clicking the Continue without logging in button.
  1. In the next step, select the name that other users will see.
  1. Click Connections -> Connect.
  1. Enter the IP of the virtual machine (1), and your nickname (2), and click Connect
  1. The first time you connect, you must maintain the privilege key (token). Enter the token from step 2-c to end the connection and designate the current user as an administrator
  1. Done. You are connected to your server. Other users can join you on the ip address of the virtual machine.
  1. To use Server Query apply login, password, and apikey from step 2-c
